- Energy auditSystematic inspection and analysis of energy use and consumption of a site, equipment, system or organization to identify energy performance improvement opportunities.
- Energy baselineEnBQuantitative reference providing a basis for comparison of energy performance, often normalized for relevant variables.
- Energy carrierForm of energy supplied or consumed (electricity, natural gas, steam, diesel, compressed air) against which usage is accounted.
- Energy efficiency indexEEIRatio of actual energy consumption to expected (baseline) consumption. Values above 1 indicate worse performance than the model.
- Energy intensity indexEIIEnergy consumed per unit of economic value (for example TEP per currency of annual turnover).
- Energy management systemEnMSSet of interrelated elements that an organization uses to establish an energy policy, objectives, and processes to achieve those objectives.
- Energy performanceMeasurable results related to energy efficiency, energy use, and energy consumption.
- Energy performance indicatorEnPIMeasure or unit of energy performance, defined by the organization, used to monitor and demonstrate energy performance.
- Energy reference consumptionEnRCModel-predicted energy use for a SEU in a given period, used as the expected value in actual-versus-predicted tables.
- Energy reviewAnalysis of energy use and consumption based on measurement and other data, leading to identification of SEUs and opportunities for improving energy performance.
- Energy sourceCatalogued origin of energy for a unit or SEU (grid electricity, natural gas, fuel oil) used in operational control and report tables.
